Remark :
The motto means: 'In memory of master Paul Vangeel +2004 / and doctor Firmin Huygen +2009 / who spend a lot of time to study the life of Wendelen / June, 6 2011'

The south wall of the Church is almost directly facing South (only 1° shift), so the time lines are almost symetrical.
Due to its high position, right beneath the cornice, the meaningfull text on the dial is not readable to the naked eye.
The sundial was placed on the initiative of the Wendelen Foundation from Herk-de-Stad to pay homage to Paul Vangeel and Firmin Huygen who were very meritorious in the Foundation with their studies on the life of Godfried Wendelen (1580-1667), priest, writer, jurist and astronomer, born in Herk-de-Stad where he has been pastor for some time.
