Remark :
This meridian is called ''Euro-meridian''.
At noon the sunlight goes through the small split between the two stone blocks. There is then a ''light line'' between two shadows on the ground. This line is the one from the local meridian et provides the solar noon (Sun 12 o' clock) when the Sun transits.
A small piece near the top of the split gives a shadow on the meridian line. Due to the fact the Sun is higher ot lower in the sky depending on the season, this shadow can be seen nearer the stones or further and thus indicates the date.
Some marks give a couple of dates, the National Feasts of the countries part of the European Union at the time the meridian was installed. One can see the national flags beside each correspondig mark.
